I honestly wish I knew what to put here. Everyone’s being so thoughtful and deep and then there’s me. But whatever. You are truly an amazing person. Your smile, your passion for dance, your embarrassing nature, your face, basically you. Isn’t it ironic how everyone thinks you’re a “sex god” (pfftt) when we both know deep down you are a loser, but that’s quite alright because you’re MY loser. Nevertheless, HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY KAI. And, I wish you many,many more since we still need to meet and ~~fall in love~~ become the best of friends. Anyways, take care of yourself and continue to do what makes you happy in your life. Okay? I know that if I start writing about my love for you, and how much I wish you a happy birthday, it will be hard to stop. But I will try, because I want to write my words for you, even though you won’t see them and read them. For me though, it’s hard to show it in many other ways, so the invisible way it is this time. I hope at least that all of this, all of what I am for you and what you are to me, can be felt through a strong connection from fan to idol that can travel over seas and miles of land, since I as many others are living on the other side of the world.

You, Kai or Kim Jongin, whatever it is that you actually want to be called by, is one very special person. You have fought for your place of fame, but you didn’t do it with pain and suffering in the same way as many others. You enjoyed the dancing that you learned, because you said that that is what you are and what you wanted to do, so you did it gladly even though it was tough.

When I see you on stage I don’t sigh as I know many others do. I don’t become irritated by the fanservice. I have heard so many people say that they become frustrated with you because you don’t show “your true self” up there on stage. That you show only what the fans want to see. But that’s not the truth to me. The way I see you love dancing, I feel that the groans and moans of performance are definitely a part that is included even if you want it to be or not, because when you dance it’s like you’re possessed by your whole being. And every act you do, you do because you want to, even have to, not because the fans want to see it. It is only you, it’s you caught up in the moment of being you.

So I will not sit there and wait for the dance to end, and for you to walk out with charisma and then let it go as you talk to the others and apparently “loosen up and becoming yourself again” that is seemingly awkward, cute and timid. I don’t say that that’s not you as well, but for me I can’t really wait for you to become what is said is you, because to me you are yourself all the time.

When you’re on stage you don’t fake it, just as you’re not faking your awkwardness at other times, and the cute laughters when you’re embarrassed. I love both sides, but as you see the gifs are of you being weird, awkward, strange and cute in every way. So it’s quite clear that I enjoy that side of just as much and even more than the side of you when you’re performing. It all combines into one big beautiful personality.

And this is why I love you. You are true to yourself and others.

I want you to have a very happy birthday. I wish you health and with that wish I give you my earnest love. We all know you’re tired and I really want all of you to take a break sometimes. You need and deserve it, even if you don’t want to stop, if you want to keep going and continuing to becoming better. But to become better and improve you also need to stop and pause, have a rest and see what mistakes you made before. And that can be a problem because you won’t show weakness even when you’re hurt, you will keep dancing and cheering and going because you love it and you don’t want to disappoint anyone. I think you know that most fans don’t want you on stage or at fansignings if they know you hurt from it, but you keep on going. And even if it is a problem sometimes, I couldn’t love you less for that, since I feel you couldn’t possibly quit doing what makes you happy in the end anyways ^^! You can’t stop any of it because it’s all a part of yourself.

And this is why you are so very special to me.

Sometimes, Jongin gets this look in his eyes when he stares out into a stadium full of people, almost like he’s in disbelief that any of it is actually real, and I feel like this is where we see Kim Jongin and not Kai. Kim Jongin who, in a way was forced to grow up maybe a little too fast. I think people sometimes forget that he’s the second youngest in EXO, yet he can’t really play the role of a maknae, because he was made the face. And I think we all know at what price that came, before he’d even debuted nonetheless, what he had to pay for something he really had no control over, because after all ‘Kai’ belongs to SM. Kai is whatever SM wants him to be, but this, this is when we see him as him, wide-eyed and staring out into a sea of thousands of people, we see Kim Jongin who made his dream come true. A boy with such a burning passion for dance, and it’s as if for a moment he forgets he’s supposed to be Kai and is looking out into that ocean of people soaking it all in and realizing that that he did it, he made it, and that all the hard work and the criticism of ‘too many teasers’ and ‘i bet he can’t even sing’, were worth it.

…Or maybe he’s just spaced out and this moment is nothing like what I’ve just described, but it’s 4am and I’m night blogging and spewing word vomit and I just seriously have the biggest soft spot for this kid. ;__;
